How They Work.
Repairs/Spares.

HOW TO REPLACE A REED SWITCH.

1. Scrape off black coating from solder connections on module.
2. Bend wires on reedswitch, dont hold reedswitch or the glass will shatter. Hold with tweezers on wire directly above glass and bend.
3. Position reedswitch at furthest point away from module, tin wires and solder. Cut off excess wire.
4. If the reedswitch is too sensitive, make the gap smaller as shown in the photo.

HOW TO BUILD A MODULE TESTER.

All LEDs run off 3v DC except Calculators and some Bulova Computrons.
Make up a module tester with a battery holder two leads and crocodile clips, cost about $7.
Test that module before putting it back in and thus save the neighbours from hearing shouting and bad language late at night!

MAKING BATTERY SPACERS.

Dont be tempted to use cells without spacers in your valuable classic, if they short out on the butterfly clip they can explode or leak, killing your pride and joy.

Get some tubing from your hardware store, it doesnt matter if it appears too big - this just means that it fits more snugly when you push it in.

$2 of tubing makes up about 1000 spacers..why pay $10 each? Save money on parts so that you can afford more Pulsars.. ;0)

STICKY BUTTONS?

Theres nothing worse than a sticky Pulsar button, take them apart by heating the area with a small butane torch, when the solder melts, prise the cup from inside the case.

Theres only three items in there, and its not hard to clean out and re-assemble these. Theres a magnet built into the button, a bent spring and the cup.

After cleaning, re-assemble and re-solder for 'as new' buttons.

CRYSTAL RESTORATION.

Get rid of the 'nibbles' at the edge of your crystal with grade 600 wet&dry paper placed on a wood block and water. Finish the new edge and remove fine crystal blemishes with 'Jewellers Rouge'.

GET RID OF SCRATCHES.

A normal plastic display on an LED watch can be restored using this product, Displex. It is very fine abrasive cream, which is to be found on Ebay or in Mobile Phone shops to restore Mobile screens.
Another product is 'Greygates Plastic Polish'. Both of these will effectively put your LED screen back to new.
TIP: Wont work on Pulsar or Wittnauer glass screens.
